Hi!
I have an Apple iBook G3 (latest model before G4) . I'm running debian
unstable on it. Yesterday I upgraded the xorg xserver from something old
(think it was 6.9) to 7.3. After that I tried to upgrade KDE. Suddenly
while selecting packages in aptitude the system locked up. I could move

I have an iBook2.2 with debian woody, running a 2.4.20benh Kernel. Well, the
iBook is known for its spare use of energy. Certainly true. But of course the
hardware depends on features of the OS to support minimal energy usage. While

I thought that it might be the HD. But then I think that I have less HD

I already did this, but the heat is still there. I think HD is much busier

Hi,
I'm having some problems getting alsa to work on my iBook. I have compiled

After booting the machine the following modules are loaded:

I have a new iBook with Debian woody installed. The X server is from Michael

Yesterday I tried to install some TrueType fonts. After adding the directory
to the font path I started xfontsel. After that the X server died imediately

I let the kernel mount the dev file system via boot parameter devfs=mount.
The permission of the cd device is "brw-rw".
I will try strace asap.

Hi!
Since I switched from kernel 2.4 to 2.6 (2.6.7) I observed that
surfing the internet (via dsl) has become painfully slow. The
absolute speed does not seem to be affected. But each individual

Any idea about
Hi!
I'v just installed the Kernel 2.6.9 on my iBook 2.2. I compiled in the
userspace and ondemand governor. Userspace is the default. I tried to
change this by echoing ondemand into

But the setting does not change. It stays at userspace.
Hi,
I now this is not ppc specific, but maybe somebody can give me a short

Among them was one of the aptitude files from a recent update. I

I changed it and it's now working again.

I removed the ipv6 module and rebooted. In the logging output I could
see that the syslog daemon triggers the load of ipv6. Is it possible
to "deconfigure" this behaviour? Besides that I could confirm that
the culprit is indeed the ipv6 module. Without it the dsl speed is
fine.
Anyway, the rea

Have you considered using bittorrent for distributing your kde packages? It
