A suggestion: maybe your drive has run out of inodes?

I've done more-or-less the same on a 600Mhz iBook, and I only wish I'd
had this document 2 weeks ago. I am glad you've saved me the effort
of writing it, however.
You mention putting the i
This is a tardy followup to my own post to answer a couple of points
that other people have already answered, and to thank those people who
are actually fixing the problem - my hat goes off to you.

Hi all; I'm new to compiling kernels, and need a little advice.
I have a iBook 2001 (600Mhz). My problem is thus: When I use the
woody kernel (2.2.19-pmac) I have networking and no X, and when I use
a BenH kernel (2.4.15-pre2-ben0) I have X and no networking. I want
to build my own kernel that

Cced to list, because it is interesting.
It turns out I had a lightly more complex problem: to get the DHCP
client working you have to turn CONFIG_PACKET and CONFIG_FILTER on in
your kernel. Whoever had the foresight to place this info in the
dhclient-2.2.x error messages has my gratitude.

There are two kernel options that dhcp needs but which often seem to

Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting Audio CDs to play on my iBook2 (2001,
600Mhz) in xmms. MP3s are fine (especially since the kmix people have
been doing such a good job) but Audio CD tracks don't work. If anyone
can give me a spot of advice, I'd appreciate it.

I've been worrying about a little lately: is there a real risk of
overheating a(n | T)iBook?
I have a 600Mhz iBook, and frequently leave it running for hours at a
time with load average >= 1. The area to the left of the trackpa
