Hello,
i am using the Benh-rsync kernel from today.
But I am somehow not able to get sound out
of my machine.
could anyone who is also using it on an
iBook2 (either 500 / 600 or 700) be so
kind to mail me his .config file?
That would be much easyer than finding the
fault.
Thanks,

Hello,
I have got an iBook2 500/66 running Debian testing and I am using
the benh kernel 2.4.20-pre7-ben0 from rsync. I have got mostly
everything running, but for some reasons I don't get the sound
working. I have got the device files in /dev/sound/ and everything

Hi,
I have got an iBook 500/66 with this internal modem:

it seems to work, but when I do an "atdt..." or an
"ath1" then I only get a lot of garbage.

According to an manual I found with Google, the
"DLS" is an serial modem.
But I could not find anything to get the "garbage" data
disappear.

Now I tried the current bitkeeper Linux_2_4 rsync tree with the same
kernel .config and the sound works again.

It is needed for Plug-n-Play.

Hello Eric,
Firewire / ieee1394 is kind of buggy, still. Unfortunately firewire acts
on each kernel a bit different. At least that is how it feels to me.
Try connecting the Firewire drive before booting your Mac.
Then load the following modules:

sometimes, when I press a cursor key down, keep it pressed and then

It only stops, when I press another key.

Hi,
I think that is imposssible. you need to partition it with linux.
You should get Lord Sutch's 1-CD set. That is great. And you can
change the apt sources to whatever you want after installing a
basic system. Therefore say after rebooting No in tasksel and
in dselect. then run apt-setup and the
Hi.
You could boot with an install CD and go to console 2 right away. Then
you have got a terminal. You can mount your linux partition, edit
/etc/yaboot.conf and rerun ybin. that worked here :)

to get rid of this modem garbage use this

this disables the "garbage" and saves it to the modem.
Afterwards you can use ATZ with all applications again.

due to their poor OS :)

Hi,
you can install OS X after linux. The only problem might be, that if you
create the partition for OSX with linux, it will not see it until you
formated it. But linux cannot format HFS+ partition. So I formated it as
HFS with "hformat". So the OSX installer was able to see the partition.

Hello Ole-Egil,
You said, you are already working on an AmigaOne.
I think it is a really interesting system which
just has been started to be shipped.
So, why don't you tell us about your experience

> NB: I never tried the softmodem.
The current iBooks also have a softmodem.
It exists a driver for it. You will
find it with google.
If you find it, you should also use
an init string like this: "ATZM0L0"
If not, it might behave strange when
dialling.

Hello!
If it is a "normal modem" you only need the macserial module.
If it is a softmodem (aka winmodem), then it is hooked up via
USB and needs a special driver. Check this page for drivers
and information: http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/index.html

They work for me.
