Yesterday, after upgrading to the new gcc and binutils, I finally managed to
compile kdebase-1.1.2. I am currently compiling the other packages.
There seems to be a dependancy problem in 1.1.2, though. It installed, but
gave me errors. It seems kdebase-1.1.2 does not provide "kdebase", on which
After my upgrade yesterday, I was hoping that the new Anacron package would
not hang anymore, but it does on my machine.

After my upgrade yesterday, xfig segfaults. Does anybody have similar
problems?

Yes. Under MkLinux, the XFig built from xfig-3.2.2-6.src.rpm
segfaults -- I only went as far as confirming that this happens not
just on my machine. If you get XFig working, please let me know

I just finished updating the system on my Lombard.
At start up, gdm takes control of the system and does
not let me in. The problem is simple: it does not
let me type the login. The cursor works, but the keyboard
does not. The other problem is that I do not manage to kill
gdm (of course), and ther

What version of menu do you have? I sounds like a bug that has been
fixed a while ago..
Wichert.

I tried. It does not work.

It's 2.1-3 that has the fix, not 2.1-2. If the binary isn't there yet, build
it yourself. It works fine here now :)

Hmm, the binary 2.1-3 is dates Sep 22. So I use 2.1-3. And it still hangs. I
will try building it myself.

KDE 1.1.2 seems to build ok here on a G3, using the latest gcc and
binutils. In fact, u can check the compiled debs on
ftp://ftp.eq.uc.pt/pub/software/unix/Linux/other/potato/

Ditto. I finally wound up uninstalling it. The following might prove
useful:
# strace anacron -s
execve("/

Thank you. BootX saved me from another installation.
Now gdm is not executable (under /etc/init.d) and the
system remains in text mode.
Now,
Now the keyboard is gone also in text mode.
Nice job guys!

You shouldn't build kernels with gcc 2.95 yet. I did it and the result
randomly crashed hard on me. The same kernel with the same config, built with
egcs 1.1.2, works fine.
If you want to build 2.2.x with gcc 2.95, you must at least check that the top
level Makefile's CFLAGS contains -fno-strict

Hi,
Which kernel are people using? I tried to run 2.2.12 from the official
linux tree, but it always enters in a loop, resetting the SCSI controller,
and never finishes booting. The controller card is a ncr53c810.
At the moment I'm running 2.2.7 which I got from (I think, it's been a while)
