Hello brian,
thanks for your helpful response. I would expect that there should be
xorg v7.0 on the servers if it's known that 7.1 or 7.2 doesn't work
well in some circumstances. But that's another point, don't stop

Hi,
I have a problem starting X on RS6K F50 box. I've used
vanilla 2.4.25 sources and compiled support for Matrox
cards.
When I selected "Use kernel framebuffer device
interface? Yes" in dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
-startx ended on errors. See XFree86-with-fb.log

Hi,
on APUS 3000 Clone (PPC/ Performa 6400) it work fine. I do not know
about your Installation, but with Debian 3.x for PPC you have to choose
the fbdev-server, this is described well in the "howto installation" for
PPC.
Also the problem with the single button on your mouse.

I have a 8100/80 powermac which I was running MKLinux

kernels that support the Nubus architecture on sourceforge

Please note that this will break again with the upcoming changes to the
input device code. /dev/input/mice and IMPS/2 is the combination to use
with the recent kernels.
i had the same problems before, so i looked in the XF86Config file and
there are two lines for me i could found in section pointer for the
mouse:
default was busmouse and /dev/mouse
and i changed to
busmouse and /dev/adbmouse
and the xserver was running.

I saw a couple things in your "Screen" section that should be changed. For the
sake of argument, I will assume that you have at least 2MB of video RAM. That
being said, here are my suggestions:
1. The "Virtual" line seems to be manadatory on a Mac. Without it, I
experienced the flashing scre

The screen section of my XF86Config file looks like
this:
# Server for the Linux Frame Buf
i had first the same problems, i tried some things, so i think i found
the problem.

Check the Screen section of your XF86Config file. I saw the same thing happen
with a powermac clone. The driver was set to "accel". Try changing it to
"fbdev". A word of extreme caution: anXious did not do a good job of setting
up XF86Config for the powermac clone's Keyboard section either.

Hi,
I've just installed Debian on my PowerPC (Motorola machine.
Used to run NT and later AIX - no Mac).
I can't start X, though.
It says /dev/fb0 - no such device.
The device definition is there (Along with fb0current and
fb0autodetect - up to fb7) and I tried them all.
I tried fbset, but it
