If it is a "normal modem" you only need the macserial module.
If it is a softmodem (aka winmodem), then it is hooked up via
USB and needs a special driver. Check this page for drivers

I don't know if it is a winmodem, but there is no need for a special
driver. Linux supports it in standard.
