Debian Squeeze (what MintPPC is based on) is a great OS but it does still have
some issues. I found that out when I tried to get sound working on my PM G4
Digital Audio. The installer assigns this particular machine the wrong sound
module and it needed a rather

Clearly, the problem is has not been fixed and according to Christian, bug
report #606984 has been closed. Sigh...

You helped me do this with my PM G4 digital audio a while back (blacklisted
snd-aoa, then installed snd-powermac) and it worked just fine. The sound
worked for the first time (except, when I had Yellow Dog 6.1 running on it.)

I never work as root on a regular basis.

The CODEC on the sound card is Texas Instruments TA3001C. The correct driver
for this machine (PowerMac3,4) is the alsa driver.
