put this in yaboot.conf:
initrd=/initrd.img
and make sure that /initrd.img points to /boot/initrd.img-2.6.x on your
filesystem.

report, the maintainer seems to think this issue is closed. Maybe

I'm trying to build 2.6.4 kernel for the first time. I've tried the
kernel.org sources and the debian UNSTABLE sources but both give me
the same problems:
When I boot up, the framebuffer doesn't appear to be working. I get

My plan was to use the debian install cd 1 to boot and mount the
linux partition. I should be able to downgrade from there, right?
The iSub (woofer) works with the 'audio' usb driver and has done
since kernel 2.4.0. However, you
cannot (AFAIK) mix USB with other forms of audio. I'd love to be told different.

With xmms, you have to have the option to read digital audio checked
in the AudioCD reader plugin and you must specify the dev node of
the cd directly. Pointing xmms to /cdrom won't work. For example,
I always have to point xmms to (or open file to path if xmms is
already running): /dev/sr0

had an annoying buzz with my iMac DVD 500 sound a couple of years
ago and I'm pretty sure I got rid of it by muting all the sound
channels except the speaker and master volume.

I have a Firewire Que!Fire 12x10x32x CDRW which has burned fine for
the last eighteen months or so kernel versions.
The only things that differs from using it under OSX is that it's not hot
pluggable (as far as I can work out) and I have to unload the
modules before putting my iMac to sleep.

You need to edit this file as 'root' user. Log into the root
account and try again. If everything is set up correctly, after you
have edited the yaboot.conf file, you should type 'ybin' (as root)
in a terminal and it will update your changes.

I've had problems with apache all along and really want to fix it.
I have the regular woody apache deb installed but it doesn't always
start on boot and when I try to start it at /etc/init.d/apache it
appears to be starting and then the process dies a couple of seconds
later.

If I put my iMac to sleep, the CD-RW is useless after waking up
until I reboot. Scanning the bus with gscanbus or another scanbus
script can cause the machine to lock up.

In XMMS, try going to the 'open file' menu and typing in
/dev/sr0 and see if pointing it directly at the CD node works.

no, I've not been hacking. I did upload sources for testing which
seemed to become mixed up with stable and testing sources showed
dselect as a separate package. Here's how it looks on stable/woody:
linux:~# dpkg -S `whereis dselect`
dpkg: *dselect:* not found.
dpkg: /usr/bin/dselect
dpkg: /usr/
All is OK now.
I did a
dpkg --clear-avail
and started a fresh source.list and all the dependencies were sorted
out.

You need to make sure you have this modules compiled and avaialble:
/lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/drivers/char/drm/r128.o
as well as the X11R6 drivers.
The stock 2.4.18 woody kernel doesn't have DRM configured, so you
can either install the 2.4.18 XFS kernel which does have the
modules or recompile
