r chip on my company's 7025 F50 is a Symbios 53C825A,
if yours is the same then this should work.
If it's not the same, please let me know what make and model it is and
I'll see if I can recompile for you.

better)? I've tried booting from floppies (no success at all), and
booting from the net (got to a very slow console on the serial port).
Might as well try burning a CD image and booting from CD, too...

nal, I would get something like that.
My terminal is minicom, running on an Intel PC on Debian woody. I used
the minicom configuration menus to set the serial port parameters to
9600n1, as suggested by previous posts and various literature.
I still get a very slow console.

>From what I can tell, this is a POWER3 kernel. The RS/6000 7025 F50 is
based on the 604e processor, not the POWER3. Do you have a link to an
appropriate kernel image?

This is strange; the bootargs are compiled into the kernel, and I supply
none when booting manually from OF. How come the kernel behaves
differently depending on how it was booted?
