Hi, I have managed to cross-compile a kernel image for the IBM RS/6000 7025 F50 on an Intel machine.
I have replaced the kernel image linux.bin on the Debian woody powerpc-chrp rescue floppy with this image. This kernel appears to boot, but I can't continue the installation. I'd be very grateful for any help/pointers. This is exactly what happens: I boot from OpenFirmware with: 0 > boot floppy:,\linux.bin No messages are displayed while the floppy is loading, then a brief (too brief to be readable) burst of messsages appears. Then the screen changes from the white OpenFirmware screen to a black screen with the following text: --- Begin --- Welcome to Linux, kernel 2.4.18.rs6kf50 linked at : 0xc0000000 frame buffer at : 0xde000000 (phys), 0xd0000000 (log) klimit : 0xc0212120 MSR : 0x00003030 HID0 : 0xf001c086 --- End --- Note that 2.4.18.rs6kf50 is the kernel version including the EXTRAVERSION string I put in the top-level Makefile, so something must be going right... The two-line dot-matrix display on the machine's front panel reads: Linux/PPC 2.4.18 Have fun! About three minutes after this appears, the front-panel display changes to: E0A0 and the machine reboots a few seconds after that.
