I've got a problem when I try to watch dvd's under KDE. With
xine/Kaffeine sound works fine and I see the film too, only that it is
not so steady. I once experienced this phenomenon when dma-mode was off
on /dev/hdc. But it is not:

After the last installation I got a problem with alsa in a KDE 3.3.2.
After running alsaconf everything works perfectly, but after a reboot
alsa is no longer running, so I have to run alsaconf again. There is no
/etc/init.d/alsa, but I'm not sure about how Debian handles this.

I assume I haveto edit /etc/X11/XF86config-4.
And do I need a different kernel? I'm using the default kernel (2.6.8).

I solved the problem the hard way - by trying and trying different
angles.
Since I had only two floppies it made my problem worse.

did not want to set up gnome because the Powerbook is not
fast enough to use it quite well. Is there a possibility to set it in xdm or
something else. Perhaps using Xmodmap and the XF86Config?

PPP with a powerbook is not possible? Or is it not possible using a pcmcia
modem. Due to waht I know you could connect a HAYES-compatible modem to the
serial port and try to connect over it. Am I right? I did not test it yet,
because I haven't yet found a 1:1 adaptor from mac-serial-port to

and it worked great. For some reason I had been trying with
hdb1 instead of hdb, silly indeed =).

I have had some trouble mounting my cd-rom, I've tried with:
mount -t iso9660 dev/hdb1 mnt/cdrom
which gives me the output:
mount: dev/hdb1 has wrong major or minor number
What's wrong?

I'm not even 100% sure that DebianPPC is the best choice. Maybe LinuxPPC is
a better choice? but it seems like there's not many Amiga users which are
using LinuxPPC. I managed to find, one...
