When moving from x86, I /thought/ I had this problem, but actually it was because I was using CTRL-ALT-F7 as opposed to APPLE-ALT-F7, which works on my PB. Hope this helps!
bye just now,
Well, the first time after I had install Debian Sarge, the keys: ctrl + fn + alt + fn + f1 worked perfectly, but now after I have reinstalled the kde and the base system it doesn't work anymore. And btw, I managed to the delete all files in /lib. That's why I had to reinstall the system, I think that is the source of the problem. Perhaps these new facts gives a better picture of the problem, I don't know.
Kind regards Björn Johansson
