IBM provides an RPM of their JRE/JDK for Linux on PPC. It can be alien'd
and installed. I don't have a direct link for you, but google is your

Hi all,
AFAICS the currently available JRE (Java Runtime Environment)
version for ix86 is 1.4.
The latest version I found for powerpc was 1.1:
jre1.1_1.1.8v3-1_powerpc.deb /Blackdown.
Did I miss something?
I'd like to install *at least* version 1.3: Where is it?

Hello,
I will try your dri-trunk deb package in few hours, but maybe you know or you
have a good howto about the installation? Or maybe the doc on dri.sourceforge is
the best one...I have to read it...
Thank you for your work ;)

David,
You need to download the latest weekly build of the sarge tree (with
the new debian-installer in it). You can get it at
http://gluck.debian.org/cdimage/testing/netinst/ but unfortunately,
gluck is down as of this moment. If I ever get some time, perhaps I can

supported by the free DRI drivers (only upto Radeon 9200). ATI provide

Kernel compiles, like the other benchmarks, are complex and a straight
forward comparison between difference platforms is not really fair. As
someone pointed out earlier, generating PowerPC code is a more complex
affair than generating x86 code (which I have to admit, I did not know
either).
