Hi all,
I'm still trying to install woody on an IBM RS/6000 7025 F50.
I'm booting off the net via BOOTP/TFTP. The console is on a serial port.
I still have two problems:
1. The furthest I've got is a very slow - unusable - Debian installer;
the console takes half an hour to redraw a screen.
Hey Folks,
Thanks to Carlos and Chris, I got through most of my install of Debian
3.0 ... I think I have everything working, except for X.
I have a Mach64 card, and am running a 2.4.18 kernel. Regardless of
the options I specify to the kernel at boot time, or to the program that
configures X, I
Hi.
I am sure some other people are having the same problem. You know, we
humans with our oposable thumb...
While typing in my laptop i wish i could disable the mouse while typing,
the same way you can set it under mac os x.
has anyone done it (or something which can work like it)?

Howdy,
I've read the bug #131865 report about no sound with quake2 and am
wondering if there has been any progress with getting sound to work.
Anybody have sound working in quake2 on PPC? I keep getting killed
because people creep up behind without me hearing them

I had also tried that linux.bin file on my PowerMac 8500 and it doesn't
work.
Try downloading the "benh" kernel image (look in penguinppc.org) or
google :-)
You must copy it under the same directory of linux.bin. It will apear
on the drop down list. It worked for me, but I don't know how to solve
Hi,
The source package nessus-core 1.0.10-2, currently in woody, has not been
built for s390 and powerpc architectures. This happened because it was
rebuilt in a bad time, when libgmp3-dev was broken (didn't include
libgmp3.so compatibility symlink).
Is it possible to get the package rebuilt in s

Not in my case -- artsd claims it can't open /dev/dsp, and so falls
back to the null device (and I get

Ah hah. So, right af
Hey Folks,
I got a little bit further than I did yesterday. I think what happened
was because I used my own kernel to boot, and the installer program
probably requires linux keycodes, it did not understand the keystrokes I
was typing. I skipped the keyboard configuration step was able to go on

Does arts now work in 16 bits with the latest benh-kernel ? When I
have tried with stock 2.4.18-newpmac from Debian, I had to force 8
bits mode...

Chris,
The installer seemed to freeze when that particular menu came up. I say
that because when I tried the installer again, it would not even let me
select the next item and proceed when I got to that screen.
I did try switching consoles, but even that did not seem to work (is it
still the app
