I'm having no problems at all with a PowerLogix G4 card. I think it's 350 MHz.
The BeOS won't boot with it though.
Debian fans may be annoyed by the fact that it comes with a LinuxPPC CD at no
extra charge; however, including some kind of linux in the box suggests they've
tested with linux prett

I have a PowerMac 7300 (200 MHz 604e) and I'm thinking of using my tax
rebate to purchase an accelerator card. The cards I'm aware of are Sonnet
Crescendo, PowerLogix PowerForce, XLR8 Carrier, and XLR8 MACh Carrier.
Can any one give me any information on which of these upgrade cards (or

Hello again, dear list.
Once more, beginner in the mac world, i ask for your
lights...
various large-scale kernel patches are available in debian :
apus, BenH, powerpc... Which one should I use on a tibook ?
It seems many highly involved kernel devels post on this list,
so that's where i thought t

You can even triple boot Linux, MacOS and MacOS X ;)
Ben.
Hey all.
I am currently downloading the current potato ISO image - I was thinking
of modifying it to include a later benh kernel (with reiserfs) and stuff.
Do I need to do anything special to make it boot?
According to the docs I've got I have to do "boot cd:,install\powermac\yaboot"

I've built and uploaded updated versions of boot-floppies 3.0.16
prerelease at

were built last night from the new debootstrap (now in unstable) and
should fix the base installation problems people were hitting on i386
before.

Ok, currently tarballing and reading the man pages as we speak :-P
Thanks a lot for the tremendous help,

check out the tune2fs program, but you can't change the number of
inodes with this program. the reserved space can be, though.
tar the files up and compress them "cd tar Icf /tmp/tarball.bz ."
you can just put the tar file on the hfs partition, but you might be
better off just sticking it somew
Andrew,
Thanks for your nice feedback. This is extremelly helpful.
Is it possible to change anything on the current partition without
reformatting it or am I just doomed to tarball all the content, move it
somewhere else (I can always zap my macos 9 partition I haven't touched for
months...) and

That is the latest from sid. I ran into the same problem, and found the
same solution as someone

I use the partition for a bunch of cvs trees so this is a high probability.
Thanks for pointing this out. Is there a way to increase inode numbers on a
partitions (even without reformatting)? Is ext2 giving me less inodes than
ext3 on a partition? Should I switch to xfs or reiserfs for this partiti

For powerpc, this is *both* the broken one *and* the latest from sid
[1]. If you want 2.11.92.0.10-1, build it from sources.

A suggestion: maybe your drive has run out of inodes?

I have the newest version of binutils, (2.11.92.0.7-2) unstable, if I am
not mistaken. It says it fixed a ppc-specific bug in its changlog. I am
still getting the errors on the dcbt and dcbtst opcodes while compiling
the kernel.

The message= configuration option makes yaboot read the specified
filename and print its contents to the screen after init-message and
before the boot: prompt. This could be quite useful for distros
making bootable CDs so they may include some brief instructions for
users.
Please test and report
