Hi.
I'm on a PowerMac 4400/200 with an ATI Mach64 VT Internal Video, using
atyfb, linux-pmac-devel from Sat Oct 21 (uname -a: Linux cowsandcorn
2.4.0-test10 #3 Sat Oct 21 09:39:08 EDT 2000 ppc unknown). At any rate,
with the New Input Layer (and devfs also), I have to use Xpmac rev. 10

Hi,
I'm right now uploading the new kernel from Ben Herrenschmidt which runs
fine on the new iBooks Firewire. It's got hackish (no, not haschich)
sound support, and should run with this kind of cmdline arguments:

root=/dev/hda10 ro video=aty128fb:vmode:10:

where can I download Xpmac for debian-powerpc
and where are these experimental XFree4 debs for debian-powerpc too ??
thanx.
Ok, so here's the dilemma:
I have two G4's, one is the older PCI video style, the other is the newer
AGP video - both are identically configured other than that with 256M Ram,
single IDE drive, standard IDE CDROM.
So, installation was flawless on the AGP one, no problems to report yet

You should specify a target directory for the rsync (as in:
rsync -avz --delete ppc.samba.org::linux-pmac-stable linux-pmac).
Or just a dot as

Not for me. You probably have a caching nameserver somewhere that needs to
be kicked real hard. The problem traces back to a bo
Hi gurus
I try to rsync my kernel source tree (2.2.17) in the aim to resolve some
USB
problems.
when I use the rsync (rsync -avz --delete
ppc.samba.org::linux-pmac-stable)
from my kernel dir, I see a lot of files which are not in my local tree.
My
kernel 2.2.17 as been download from debian ftp.
I'm a newcomer to this list, I hope my question complies with its
rules of conduct.
My department has a Macintosh Server G3 (1998), featuring an
Atto ExpressPCI PSC v1.2 SCSI controller (for a 4G hard disk).
We'd like to install Linux on this server, for several good reasons
which need not be ex

I have tried setting up cross-compiling, but never found all the necessary
source files to make the compiler.

Yes, I'm not especially good in reading docs, so no e-lolly(tm) for me,
I guess. ;)

Hi,
I'm currently having benh's kernel 2.2.17pre13-ben1 running. Thanks to
replies to an earlier question on how to insert it at boot time,
- copy it to /lib/modules/kernel-name/net
- insert 'options airport -f' in /etc/modules.conf
I was able to get my airport card to work in my Pismo. For variou

Oh yes the rescue disk is at
sunsite.unc.edu/pub/linux/system/recovery/resque_disk-2.3.99-pre9-A.tgz
It includes a 2.3.99 kernel but it's easy to swap this for another
preffered kernel. It is for a pc but I bet it can be made to work for a
powerpc system, and intend to at least try it out on powe
What good is a backup if you cannot recover the data after a crash?
That's what I had happen to me. Most backup systems store the database
info on the disk, and will very likely make it hard to restore the system.
I found a rescue disk that has the option to include tob (in your list)
