Disabled gpm, restarted X, same difference -> mouse doesn't move
additionally, why should gpm and X get along fine with just a slightly
older kernel, and then conflict with a newer one? I'm baffled.

Try running X without gpm running, see if that fixes it.

I just updated by PB3400 with the latest packages from frozen, which

GPM mouse works on consoles. But when X comes up... THE MOUSE DOESN'T
MOVE!
I'm still running the same Xserver (Xpmac-rev9) and booting

There may be something here. I just updated to 2.2.17 as packaged in
frozen (compile date of Jul 18th). I got some form of the usual IDE
errors on boot, from which it finally recovered, which incl

Supposedly, X 4 and X 3.x don't conflict, except for XF86Config. So if you
back that up, you shouldn't have problems switching between the two
versions. Look at the README's accompanying X 4 to make sure I have this
straight.

Anyone out there with a Matrox Millenium II wanna help me out with an

Your best bet it so find someone with a similar setup that has a working
XF86Config and use that. O

Ok, that sorts out the timeout hypothesis. If the -d1 always fails I don't
understand why the problem doesn't happen during kernel init though.

for your tips, I just found that gFTP (which is quite buggy, though) supports
SSH (much the same way sftp does, i think).
For those interested, http://gftp.seul.org/ , no powerpc.deb yet, and no source

Do you use matroxfb or offb for the console? In the latter case you are indeed
limited to the console resolution and depth AFAIK.

Can someone tell me where I can get an rpm (shudder) of xconfigurator or
