live-helper supports ppc already since quite some time,
official squeeze images are available here:

unofficial lenny images are available here:

My Kernel cmdline includes module=nvidia, where nvidia.module is in
/live and contains two lines:
filesystem.squashfs
restrictedDrivers/nvidia.ext3
and /live/restrictedDrivers/nvidia.ext3 is a proper loopfile.
This has always worked up until a recent change (I'm not able to

Dear Daniel,
Ok, I didn't know there were iso's available already for PPC. Thanks
for the link! So basically, these iso's are for burning on CD. You want
me to investigate USB and/or Netbooting. I don't have PS3, so I can't
help on that. What is it what you like me to do ? Make the iso bootable

This is really accindental!! I was writing a manual on something very
similar yesterday on my own website, have a look here:
http://mac.linux.be/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=75
I am now trying to put the lxde-lenny.iso on a stick and see if I can
boot it.

Or rather why is there problem building 50G of images on ppc or sparc?
because those machines are at home, and uploading with 1.5mbit/s sucks ;/
(the amd64 and i386 too, but those are easy to build on one of my remote
servers).

Well, not bad for a start!
What I found out first of all is that you cannot just copy yaboot over
from the iso. It won't boot with that. You need to create yaboot by
using the technique as mentioned on my website.
I downloaded debian-live-503-powerpc-lxde-desktop.iso and extracted the

i couldn't find any information about if powerpcs can boot from fat, nor
that they can't, oiow, it doesn't say anything about booting from
About the i8042 failure I did some more research. It's a keyboard
controller module, but this controller is not present on Macs. Gentoo
advizes not to have this module in when compiling the kernel:
Code Listing 3.16: IN from bad port 64 - Disable i8042 keyboard support

This table shows how I partitioned my 80GB internal disk. I decided to
have an 8GB partition which I would format as FAT32. This allows me to
