Well, not bad for a start! What I found out first of all is that you cannot just copy yaboot over from the iso. It won't boot with that. You need to create yaboot by using the technique as mentioned on my website.
I downloaded debian-live-503-powerpc-lxde-desktop.iso and extracted the while image on my desktop. I had yaboot made by the method as mentioned above in the root of /dev/sda2 (the bootstrap partition on my USB stick; /dev/sda1 is the partition table): Command (? for help): p /dev/sda # type name length base ( size ) system /dev/sda1 Apple_partition_map Apple 63 @ 1 ( 31.5k) Partition map /dev/sda2 Apple_Bootstrap bootstrap 2097152 @ 64 ( 1.0G) NewWorld bootblock /dev/sda3 Apple_Free Extra 1851328 @ 2097216 (904.0M) Free space Block size=512, Number of Blocks=3948544 DeviceType=0x0, DeviceId=0x0 I then copied the yaboot folder of the iso (except yaboot), the doc folder, the .disk folder, and the live folder to /dev/sda2. Yaboot.conf is set correctly as it refers to /live/... which is the correct path from the yaboot loader. The USB folder looks like this: drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 11 2010-03-22 21:10 . drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 2009-11-01 14:25 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 693 2010-03-22 19:46 boot.msg drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4 2010-03-22 21:10 .disk drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 15 2010-03-22 20:48 doc -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 572 2010-03-22 19:46 hfs.map drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 9 2010-03-22 21:01 live -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1854 2010-03-22 19:46 ofboot.b -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2355 2010-03-22 19:46 pegasos -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 149832 2010-03-22 20:39 yaboot -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1154 2010-03-22 19:46 yaboot.conf I then rebooted from open firmware into the USB stick with: boot usb0/disk:2,\\:tbxi I came into yaboot and selected the default (*live). I got into stage 1 and it hang when it was scanning for devices, in the SCSI drive sda (the USB stick). I got the following error: This Debian Live image failed to boot FATAL: Error inserting i8042 (/lib/modules/2.26-2-powerpc/kernel/drivers/input/serio/i8042.ko): no such device Hope you can do something with this ;) Regards Jeroen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-live-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
