Hi, I have a Compaq armada laptop with ATI card. Is it possible to get a
working Xv extension with Xfree4.2 or 4.3? Does anyone have such a card
with a working Xv and glx?

xv (XVideo) is an extension of XFree86 which is part of "extmod". there
is no program "xv" to find (though perhaps somewhere it might exist).
usually it is activated by having
Load"extmod"
somewhere in the section "Module" in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.

Dear all,
I'd really appreciate any piece of advice concerning usage of usb CD
burners on Linux. After reading linux-usb.org, I am mainly interested in
any positive or negative experience you have had with this kind of

Hi,
I used a Archos MiniCDRW 4*4*24 which can be used both with the PCMCIA slot or
the USB port.
I started to use it with a kernel 2.2.19 on the PCMCIA slot and it worked fine. Now I have updated
my kernel to 2.4.18 and I plug the CD burner on the USB port even if the reading speed is slower

One more thing: I've also heard about "IDE->USB" cases.
They are quite cheap (up to $100) and allow to use "normal"
internal IDE devices via usb.
Example:

which costs only $35.00 !!!
So, if one buys such a thing and a relatively cheap "intern

IIRC, that is "high speed" USB, as opposed to "full speed" at 12mbps.
