I think its Have you try to format floppy to not standard capacity, for example more than 1.44MB? ./fdformat /dev/fd0u1722 Virtually all 1.44 drives support 1.722 just fine, but it is possible for an extended format to break a floppy drive, use it at YOUR OWN RISK! Use /dev/fd0u1722 to mount it, /dev/fd0 or /dev/fd0H1440 probably will not work.
