so i've finally solved the yamaha problem, in large part thanks to all the help people provided! in case anyone has the same problem in the future, i fixed it by running 'modconf,' then re-installing the opl-3sa2 module using the command-line: io=0x538 mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0
