vacation and would need to send it to you tonight, so I would need your address

Meanwhile I've seen that there is a file /proc/bus/ieee1394/devices. It
says :
Node [00:1023] GUID[f041040087b2]:
Vendor ID: 'Linux OHCI-1394'
Capabilities: 0x0083c0
Bus Options: IRMC(1) CMC(1) ISC(1) BMC(0) PMC(0) GEN(0)
LSPD(2) MAX_REC(2048) CYC_CLK_ACC(0)

Hallo Eduard,
I've tried that. Now lsmod shows me that there are usb modules, ieee1394,
sbp2 loaded, which is serious progress, still it doesn't mount them and I
don't know how to do that by hand. Actually I tried to mount /dev/sd0 sd1 sda
sda0 sda1 sbp2(or similar) ... with no success. Any idea

You would need a way to get that particular module onto the system. You
said earlier that you tried a net install
I downloaded
http://people.debian.org/~blade/boot-floppies/netinst-full-pre/bootbf2.4.iso
and selected "linux" from the initial prompt ...
The problems remained the same, as I am still asked from what medium I want
to install the system from and the options just include "/dev/fd0 /dev/fd1

Hi Mark,
how do I do that?
I am not sure what you mean by "debinst"... Is that the installer? The
installer won't let me "load and configure of driver modules (translated from
the german output). It says I should first install them ;-) Which I don't know
how without the ieee1394 driver.
