Well, currently I do not have a single (good) idea. My expectation was that the scsi driver would recognice that device as a SCSI cdrom and lisist it in the file /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info. If it would do, the installer also would offer it in the medium chooser. But something seems to go wrong, do not ask me what. Well, if someone in Germany (around Karlsruhe or Kaiserslautern) can borrow a firewire CDROM drive, I could try to find a solution, but without hardware it is hard...
