Why don't you use "module-assistent" to do this stuff automatically? I did it recently on a Dell Inspiron 5160 and worked like a charm. Well, almost. I had to make a couple of changes in the XF86Config-4 to get full crisp resolution of 1400x1050. Let me know if you need more help. Instructions n
