One more thing: I've also heard about "IDE->USB" cases.
They are quite cheap (up to $100) and allow to use "normal"
internal IDE devices via usb.
Example:

Dear all,
I'd really appreciate any piece of advice concerning usage of usb CD
burners on Linux. After reading linux-usb.org, I am mainly interested in
any positive or negative experience you have had with this kind of

Hello
I'm trying to find some info about availible PCMCIA modems which would
work with Potato 2.2 with self-compiled 2.4.18 kernel on Asus A1 series.
I thought it was a FAQ, but all I found in the list concerns _only_
PCMCIA Ethernet cards.
Do you have any ideas about PCMCIA Modem

Hello, everyone
My question concerns boot loaders which I am going to use on Asus A1
series laptops.
Basically I need to install into hda mbr a boot loader which
1) is menu driven (don't ask why) - so, not LiLo
2) will work with Win98 installed on hda1 and Linux on hda3 (LiLo is on
hda3 to boot

Hello,
I have some troubles with sound on my ASUS A1000-series laptop. It has
SiS board with sound on it (and syupid WinModem, which doesn't
work). Sound worked out of the box - I compiled kernel 2.2.4 with
sound support and driver for Trident (and SiS and AdLib - it was all in
one line).
