On my laptop I had to comment out the part of the video card stanza in XF86Config-4 that defines the BusID to get x to start. I just stole this from the net somewhere, but comment out the busid like so and you may have more luck. Just an idea, but it worked for me on my inspiron 4000 with Exampl
