Hi!
I'm installing Debian Woody 2.2 kernel on an old
Toshiba laptop and plan to use this as a home gateway.
After recompiling a new 2.2.20 kernel, I noticed that
/lib/modules/2.2.20 does not contain the directory
pcmcia under it unlike the original
/lib/modules/2.2.20-idepci. I tried copying the
I have acpi installed on my old tosh (2.4.18 woody), and I use the command,
acpi to get info.
At least I though that is what I do.
Certainly I was able to extract battery % and temperature info.
I will check next time I use it.

I can't use my Mitsuni CD-ROM on my CTX 700 series ExBook. I need HIMEN.SYS and maybe something else.

Yes, and more than only that actually. It also replaces PNP, can handle
IRQ routing and even more. Something really complex indeed.

How well does Linux ACPI compare to power savings under windows. This is
a new laptop with P4 mobile, ATI 7500, WiFI. Are there sleep/suspend
whatever modes. Power down HDs? Clock changes in CPU and Video? Suspend
cards? How does battery life compare between Win and Lin?
