How do I get sound to work, any method, on an IBM A21m notebook?
I tried alsa version 0.99 -- no luck. Missing drivers
I tried loading the cs46XX module -- couldn't load.
I tried compiling the module as part of the kernel (no modules) That loads
OK, but there's nothing to do wit
I have now tried with 8 disks. I want to install over the net (ftp I
guess). Am I using the correct disks? The message/error I get:
request_module[block-major-2]: Root fs not mounted
apm: BIOS version 1.2 flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.13)
apm: disabled on user request
I install on a Dell Inspiron

seeing it boot with root=/dev/fd0 ,or do you really have a bad boot

this should probably be on debian-user, rather than debian-laptop.
(from the manual) did you try other disks? I've gone through 4-5 disks.
Floppies aren't great media, being hugely error-prone.
Have a look in the installation guide.

I have downloaded root.bin and rescue.bin, used rawrite2 to make two
disks. rescue boots fine, but when I put the root disk in, and hit
enter, it says something like no fs root, or something.
Please advice.

highlighted, otherwise nothing is pasted to Netscape. More than that
