I am co-maintainer of smooth tasks.
Upstream has still activity but there are no commits in the direction
of supporting plasma 5.
Meanwhile, there is a plasmoid in plasma5 that does something similar,
but I think overall it's rather crappy. For example it groups windows
and has no option
ng somewhere starts recording but the "Finish recording" button

Have you tried removing its configuration? It works for me so it can't be
completely broken.

The bug about the icons seems it's most likely due to using an icon theme that
isn't breeze and is not complete. This happens to me sometimes with oxygen.

bugs with remembering settings and when you have HDMI audio + jack + bluetooth
audio and you want to choose it's a complete mess.

The touchpad of my 3-4 years old thinkpad is unsupported by libinput and the
issue is WONTFIX.
No wayland for me until this laptop dies.
I use it with plasma-mobile on tablet but I can't use it on my laptop.
