I hope in many many years since the touchpad in my newish thinkpad is not supported in wayland and by the looks of it will never be supported. I'd understand if we were talking about unknown and/or old hardware, but new and mainstream being unsupported (and requiring me to manually install synaptics and remove libinput to work) seems like it might put off a number of users. > I remember similar cycles with Pulseaudio for example. Or with Network > Manager. It took years over years for those to finally work okay for me. Well eventually the fix to pulseaudio was to entirely drop it and use pipewire instead. Not every new thing is necessarily the correct solution it seems. > The switch to Pipewire was an exception. It mostly works. But currently it > does not seem to detect whether I plugged in head phones or not. This works for me, it even changes the volume automatically. But it has some bugs with remembering settings and when you have HDMI audio + jack + bluetooth audio and you want to choose it's a complete mess. -- Salvo Tomaselli "Io non mi sento obbligato a credere che lo stesso Dio che ci ha dotato di senso, ragione ed intelletto intendesse che noi ne facessimo a meno." -- Galileo Galilei https://ltworf.codeberg.page/
