Hi,
I'm running woody with xfree864 .0.1-4 and KDE2.
Every time I try to start kdm ist crashes after a second with a segfault.
It doesn't manage to display the login window before the crash.
The kdm package version is 2.0-final-5. The crash happened with release 4,
too.
Btw: xdm runs fine.

Antialiasing smoothens fonts on your display, especially on higher
resolutions
Hi,
I do not have a solution for your problem, but an email of
Hanno Mueller from the 22nd of December may help You.

Hi,
I'm running sid with kde 2.1 i386 packages.
The dist-upgrade is from yesterday.
The crash occurs regardless of QT antialiasing enabled/disabled.
I could not find a bug report on bugs.kde.org.
Way to reproduce the bug:
1. load a HTML page
2. open the find dialog (Ctrl-F, or Edit->Find)
3. type

Of course, but you need to do a little tweaking of your fixed fonts setting
in /etc/X11/Xftconfig to not break

Hi,
I was running the qt-2.3-final debs with the according kdelibs-2.1.0-3 for
some time, without any problem, but after a XFree4 server crash I cannot
manage to start kde anymore. All I get is a grey background, because all
applications are dying during startup.

This seems to be a very old grave bug, which is in the list since September
2000!
And is reported in every version of KDE2 since KDE 1.93 Beta.

Hi,
I suggest to turn antialiasing of for fonts smaller than 11pixels to solve
the partial disappearing of letters in thin fonts.
The XftConfig snippet below achieves this.

Debian is one of the few Linux Distributions where /usr
can be mounted readonly without breaking or complifiying anything.
So, me votes for /etc/kde2/share/{applnk,mimelnk,templates}
