Kmail is really slow when using it, not very snappy.
I have a Duron 1000 and everything works very nicely except
kmail.

Put the following in some of you system startup scripts :
chown root:root /tmp/.ICE-unix
chmod 1777 /tmp/.ICE-unix
You'll get 5 seconds speedup approx.
It unloads from memory far more quickly. Kmail doesn't stay in memory after
closing it.
What's more interesting is that at each right click (contextual menu) or drop
down menu i have
QMenuData::removeItem: Index 0 out of range
which displays in the console. And then the menu pops up.
Do you

Alain,
A few things come to mind:
1. Running kmail (a KDE app) under ICE on a disk limited system might
cause slowness. How big is your swap defined? Have you looked
at top when the system is slow to see what tasks are running?
If you do a ps aux | more you will see the KDE tasks running.

Michael,
I fully understand what you mean, but i doubt that's where the problem comes
from.
It's running very nicely with the following software

Agent under wine

Tomcat/Apache/Postgres

Stupid question, but have you tried Evolution? I am a pine man myself,
used it since 1994, but if I had to use a GUI tool, I would use Evolution.

Perhaps - especially if Kmail likes to use large temporary
Hi,
I've been having problems compiling Kwave for KDE3 on Debian:
/usr/bin/uic-real: relocation error: /usr/lib/libkio.so.4: undefined symbol:
unregisterStaticDeleter__7KGlobalP18KStaticDeleterBase
We've traced this problem with the Kwave developers and noticed that if you

Alain,
I also have an IDE Burner and DVD drive. I also have
20 GB of IDE Disk, 4 GB of SCSI Disk. I personally would really
like to have an ALL SCSI system but the cost of SCSI in the USA
is too high. Today I can walk into almost any computer store or
mail-order (USA) and buy a 60 GB IDE disk
