I am running sarge with kde 3.1 from sid. My setup was fine before today
but now when kdm runs it restarts the x server, tries again, restarts the x
sever and then gives up.

Hi,
my KDE apps are not able to display the german umlaut "ö" with Helvetica 14pt
bold font. Only the small "ö" is affected, the other umlauts display nicely,
even the big "Ö". GTK apps have no problem showing the "ö".
Any idea?

Hello List,
is there a way to use arts (artsd) and alsa devices directly in parallel?
The problem I have is that I can only use either artsd OR other programs
that need direct access to alsa hardware and I wonder if there is a way to get
both at the same time running? Probably there is a way to c
Hi to all,
Here's the problem: I'm using kde 3.1.1 on Debian sid with anti-alias fonts
option enabled. I have fontconfig, freetype2 and libxft2 packages
installed. The only (and small) problem I'm experiencing is that some
caracters, especially some spaces before ":", are rendered as litt

Moin,
I cannot find deb-packages of these software projects:
http://xmms-kde.sourceforge.net/
http://www.xs4all.nl/~jjvrieze/kmplayer.html
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kfani8k/
I compiled them from source and they work all right, but I don't know how to
make a deb-package.
Ciao, Stephan

Hello all,
Running KDE 3.1 on sid, with only packages from debian archive. The
menu system for KDE 3.1 no longer shows non-KDE programs, as it used to
with KDE 2.2. Is there any way to get them back? Gnome has an option
to enable KDE and Debian menus, for instance. I was hoping there was

Because you don't log in...

Thanks a lot, now it works. But now I have a new "problem": every time I do an
apt-get update, apt-get tries to install the original package from the net.
Is it possible to give my self-compiled package a slightly new

When I updated to XFree86 4.3.0 from Daniel Stone's

this and multiple programs need xbase-clients. TIA!

Hi,
I am currently trying to enable mp3 encoding support in konqueror 3.1.1 with
debian woody. I read
http://www.pantek.com/library/general/lists/lists.debian.org/debian-kde/msg00042.html
and installed liblame-dev, liblame0, lame-extras and lame from
marillat.free.fr. Then I downloaded the kdeba
