[ANNOUNCE] Debian packages for Blackdown J2SE 1.4.2-01

Thanks to the work of Matthias Klose and Joris Patroons, Debian packages for Blackdown J2SE 1.4.2-01 are available for i386 and AMD64 now. To use the Debian packages, you have to add the following line to /etc/apt/sources.list: deb /debian/ sarge non-free Replace with your favorite

Blackdown java Debian package appears out of date

The j2re1.4 Debian package available from BlackDown (e.g., deb ftp://ftp.tux.org/pub/java/debian unstable main non-free) is not as current as other versions available from BlackDown. It's over two years old. Judging from the fact I couldn't get it to work with mozilla firefox 0.9.3-5

I tried apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade on my Intel PIII testing system yesterday, and something seems to have pushed out Blackdown j2re1.3, and tries to install jre1.1 instead. A strange thing, is that it tries installing jre1.1 from the Blackdown server where it doesn't

Apparently, and if I understand correctly, the older versions of the sdk (including 1.4.0) used functions in libc that was not part of the "public" API. Therefore, I assume this should be fixed by Blackdown/Sun also for 1.3.1 releases, not just 1.4.1. Note I didn't bother re

Back on 3 Aug, Stephen Zander noted that he'd finally put updated debs for the SDK and RE for the 1.3.1-FCS-02b build. I can find no trace of them on any of the mirrors listed at blackdown.org; is there a mirror list somewhere I'm missing, or were the packages pulled? Thanks in advance. -- Cer
