Bokmaal and Nynorsk - just plain dialects?

Hello, I have encountered a small problem. In Romanian the names for languages are written with a small letter at the begining, but proper names are written with an initial capital letter. I was wondering if Bookmal and Nynorsk are just some dialects/languages or are they comming from names of so
