slock uses the password in /etc/shadow for authentication, which causes
problems for setups that use some other mechanism for login (NIS

They should work for r197556.
The latter patch contains some hacks to avoid re-running
autoconf so it can be simplified if it goes upstream as
noted in the TODO comments.
