Hello all!
I've used debian fora couple of years but actually never thought much
about the installation process except to ge tmy system installed.
But now I'm part of a research project and I need to find out about among
other thing dbootstrap, what enviroment variables it uses an

Now, I have 1 and 2 done, and I can boot RHL's installer, DRDOS and
FREEDOS, so I figure that part's fine.
What Debian should have and does not, that I've discovered, is a menu

There's a heap of packages it will not want. This is just one of them. I
noticed LILO too. I will be using GRUB.

Nabarlek. My own installer gets the name from the kernel commandline:

It should not be defaulting to debian.

In the case of your daily builds, something suffixed by -mmdd (hours
and minutes too if you want) would do nicely.

This looks pretty serious to me.
I've got to the wrong mirror (my type) and I'm trying to enter values
that won't work to see what happens.
When entering proxy information, use the standard form of
"http://[[user][:[EMAIL PROTE
al ramdisk on it, it would not be there unless the user typed
it manually.
FWIW Red Hat, which wrote pump, does get it with dhcp..

dbootstrap/net-fetch.c gives no choice of kernel when fetching the
kernel from the network (http/ftp).
It unconditionally fetches a 2.2 kernel. Many recent computers _require_
a 2.4 kernel.

Red Hat has completely rewritten the installer, its hardware detection
is about as good as there is, it includes contemporary GNOME and KDE,
and you can install it off the Internet, you don't _have_ to download
lots.
Debian is working on a new installer, because the old one isn't very
good.

operating systems. The only other EFI entry I had created in the firmware setup
manually was one for the USB drive.
What do you mean by removable device in this case? /boot/EFI is on the same
NVMe drive as the Debian install itself.

Hello. I'm trying to boot a Debian 2.2r4 cd on a Compaq 1850R. Everything
goes fine until:

What is the status of the EVMS module for the debian-installer? When I click
on it nothing happens. I was in hopes that it would allow me to install
directly to EVMS volume. Is there some undocumented step that I am missing?
If it is truly broken, is there an alternate method of installing onto
aybe more generic options even if it's just a template like:
/dev/ttyUSB0
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/ppp/gsm.chat -T *99# -U surfo2"
usepeerdns
defaultroute
persist
takes probably not much effort but would be a big leap forward for every
installation via ppp.
