I cannot figure out how base-config uses debconf. No matter whether
I reconfigure debconf/priority or override the seeting with
$DEBIAN_PRIORITY, base-config always uses the priority used for the
installation.
Also, it seems that starting base-config (even with 'new') from the

If you get a red screen you are experiencing a bug documented in the
errata. The only problem should be the annoying red screen.
