I downloaded the d-i 07 july 2004 version.
We have improvements now.
The ide-cd, ide-cdrom, ide-isofs were installed.
It seems that basic cdrom is working now.
But the other modules were not loaded:
ide-mod
ide-probe-mod
ide-generic
ide-floppy
ide-scsi

I tried to install with both options, kernel 2.4.x and 2.6.x, expert modes.
I am using Conectiva Linux 9.0.

Bellow, I reproduce the output from the Athlon 2.4+, 512 MB ram, Asus A7S333
motherboard.
The system is running Conectiva Linux 9.0.

I may be wrong. But I have a similar problem. My setup is: Gigabyte 8I875
with
hda: Maxtor 6Y160PO 160GB PATA disk
hdc: HL-DL-ST GSA-4081B DVD-RAM drive
hdd: Yamaha CRW-F1E CD-R/RW drive
If the machine is "warm", frequently only LG drive has a trouble.
