Hello,
This can be closed, it looks like there was some kind of problem with
the netinstall disk my host was using, as if I use my own, everything
works fine.
Thanks!

"slots" on a single netinst CD/ISO; it's just a matter of building the
kernels (as appropriate) and managing them.

quires a kernel that is NOT compiled with the
LEGACY_START_ADDRESS=y configuration option.
Other machines with requirements like DS25 are: DS15, DS45, ES47.
IIRC, it's only the MILO-based machines that require LEGACY_START_ADDRESS.

For now, I'm going to go back to using the netinst install (since I
can switch to a local mirror easily once I'm in base config), but this
means I won't get the ability to choose a kernel and will end up with
a non-SMP 386 kernel.

I also observed lack of DCHP on the "sid" business card image from the
20040517 daily build:

d-i gave this error:

No DHPC client was found. This packag

anything other than the 100 MB netinst ISO. Perhaps I'll try the
businesscard CD on for next install.
I believe this bug has already been closed, but I'll attach the
information as requested.

I fully recognize that having multiple kernels would take up valuable

should explicitly be part of base-config.

One additional point I forgot to mention:
Immediately after installation, /boot/grub/menu.lst had two entries --
