Your patch assumes a qemu-based cross-debootstrap if HOST_ARCH is not
the same as ARCH. Did you make sure this does not clash with
debootstrap's --foreign option?

Why wouldn't this be useful for the standard Debian desktop task as
well?
Hi,
would it at least be possible to add some comments and commented-out
commands to /etc/discover.conf to point users/admins how to disable OSS
in favour of ALSA?
Needless to say that sound setup seems to still suck big time for Sarge,

*are* easy work-arounds available - either do expert mode setup
which prompts you for this or I think there is a way to disable DCHP via
a boot option, you might want to check on those.

type 'linux26' at the boot prompt (of a recent daily snapshot, which
seems to be the case here) to boot into Linux-2.6 and get SATA support.

This is more appropriate on -gtk-gnome than on -boot.
Perhaps somebody there knows what your problem is.

If there is only one Windows detected, it would be nice to call it just
'Windows' though, I guess.

a bug for that now, FWIW.
A more elegant solution would be to check for a plugged in cable I
guess (as seems to do ifplugd), has this been considered (at least for
sarge+1)? Is ethdetect the right package to file a wishlist bug for
this?
Hrm, I guess I got side-tracked a bit here, sorry.
