The nightly worked, although I wasn't ever asked to set up a password
after haskel. As soon as I can install a real desktop environment as
opposed to the default offered by haskel :) I'll file another report.

Problem solved. This was an issue with my BIOS settings, that I was able to resolve. Hard drives on Asus P5W DH need to be set to AHCI mode for proper installation.
