Just adding my perspective—I completely understand the need to cater to
diverse dietary requirements.
Bento might seem limiting at first, but it can actually be quite flexible,
with options for most preferences, except perhaps halal, which I doubt is
easily available in Japan.

DebConf has much way more complex food requirements from attendees,
includes Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free, Gluten Free Vegetarian, Halal
and some specific allergy depends on attendees.
I am strongly against having "bento" every day. Please understanding
more on what attendees needs for food
The biggest issue I see with the DC26 Japanese bid is total cost.

accommodation cost is far above any previous DebConf budget.
