The biggest issue I see with the DC26 Japanese bid is total cost. https://wiki.debian.org/DebConf/26/Bids/Japan#Cost
I don't know if I'm reading this proposed budget correctly, but the accommodation cost is far above any previous DebConf budget. DebConf + DebCamp is typically a 2 week event, booking the hotel at ¥50m (€300k) for a week is too much. Our entire event budget is usually under €300k. Can we consider other lower-cost accommodation options? Campsites, hostels, etc. I know that number was calculated with optimistic attendee numbers (500) and Debian wouldnt't be providing bursaries for that whole number. Can we try to estimate what the cast to Debian would be, based on the number of bursaries we have issued in the past? e.g. http://debconf24.debconf.org/register/statistics/ Thank you, Stefano -- Stefano Rivera http://tumbleweed.org.za/ +1 415 683 3272
