As someone who has helped with the debconf front desk for the last two
years (debconf 10 and 11) I have some ideas that I think would help
make the front desk run smoother.
* Written documentation for all front desk procedures that should, as
much as possible, be enough for a first-time debconf

This year I was involved in the talk selection team, and we had the
same problem with people not filling in fields and getting downgraded
because of it. A title is not enough to select on in most cases, and
you can't assume we know what you mean.

marked the day trip if they want to attend baseball, and if they are
willing to pay $10-$15 (what our per-ticket cost is) to do so?

It was my understanding that there would be no food before the 16th or
after the 30th. Also arival and departure times may not have been
taken into account for the numbers. (No need for food before someone
arives or after they leave.)
