I used a product called mckanica silicone remover. I highly recommend it!

FYI - Biobor kills algae, which is good if you don’t have any yet. If you have
it already and it is sticking to the tank walls, once it dies it might get
loose and clog your filters.
I wouldn’t try this with a modern diesel, but in really cold weather I added

I have the AIS unit now. I wish I hadn’t been so quick to ship the old one, I
would like to see it work and apparently I have no shore station in reach of my
location at the dock. All the lights are good, the diagnostics are all good,
and it says it is transmitting. I guess I have to get out fro

Joe,
Look for yourself on Marine Traffic. Or let me know when the unit has been
on for a while.
Please let me know how the NMEA WiFi bridge works. Could be much simpler
than what I am trying to do with Signal K and a router.

Joe,
I bought a Bad Elf for my iPad mini original, worked fine (does with my mini 4
as well, but it also has a built in GPS receiver) with the navionics app and
mapsme. The Navionics app works on both my iPhone and iPad – both are ties to

I just ordered this:

$37 or so US dollars shipped free from Australia. They have two NMEA channel
versions too.
I was tempted to stick the AIS in my car and drive over the Bay Bridge, it
surely will get picked up 200 feet in the air
That may have been SAR (search and rescue).

Hi
I run Navionics on three Idevices. The software and the chart subscription
share as one as long as they are all in the Apple Family Share.
My Raymarine is a separate Navionics chart subscription. Tried directly with

This winter I am going to replace the sanitation hose and Y valves in both

Amazon has a 50 foot roll of 140 series Trident hose for $150. Any reason
this is the wrong hose? Anyone in Annapolis want to split a roll? (Beats

Danny,
With all due respect to Peggy, I don't like wire reinforced hoses. Any
thoughts on the y valve?

Joel,
I'm no help on the valve, I just reused the one that was there. Any
reason you're against the wire in the hose, just curious?

Hello all,
We got to the boat over the weekend and found one of the small square
instrument covers for our Raymarine instruments (ST60+, etc.) had evidently got
blown off. One was gone, another was loose.
These things are $20+ shipping. Pretty stupidly priced for a piece of plastic
IMHO.
If your instruments are bulkhead mounted, Sew a piece of Sunbrella and
mount it to the bulkhead with snaps or other fittings so that it covers all
of the instruments. No need for individual covers.

Joel,
I have to agree with Danny. Trident 101 (or the white 102) is a much better
hose that Trident 140. I have worked with both and honestly I think working
with the white PVC sanitation hoses (i.e. 140) is a much great pain in the ass.

Last season, I replaced my Bosworth Y-valve with the same model. The handle
broke off in my hand. It was my fault - lack of lubrication.
I spoke directly with someone at Bosworth, but can't recall her name. She was
very helpful in making sure I got the correct valve. I think I emailed pics t
The covers on my Nexus instruments loosened with time. I just put some
duct tape around the inside to make them fit tighter. Has worked for 10+
years.

Glad I asked! I’ll defer to the collective wisdom and go with the 101/102.
I’ll borrow a small angle grinder to speed the process. This is not a job I
want to repeat!
The Raritan valve is worth a look too.

A heat gun and some liquid soap will help with getting the hoses on.
