I'm not sure that it really matters. That telephone pole mast is still pretty flexible, and once it's set in the collar the rake is entirely controlled by the rig. Wal ___ Email address: CnC-List@cnc-list.com To change your list preferences, includ

Hello all, A couple of days ago while my mast was on saw horses it got into a fight with a riding lawnmower and lost. The attachment points for the cap shroud and the mounting bracket for a lower spreader are mangled badly. I also have a rod backstay that has a permanent bend in it and the cap s

Thanks Jack. Offshore Spars built the rig and they are about ten minutes from the boat. I am hoping they will have spare brackets in the back but I am not holding out much hope. Speaking of replacing, how much difference will I see if I replace the rod with wire rigging? On May 10, 2015 10:50 AM,

Gary I had UK Sails in Charleston replace every piece of the rod with Dyform 6 wire and never looked back. I have owned my 39 since 1975 and the Navtec rod has been a PITA as well as expensive to properly maintain. I haven't noticed any difference in the way that my boat sails except that she is

Gary, I second jack's recommendation of Dyform wire as an alternate to rod. I put Dyform fore and back stays on Calypso back in 1999. No issues of concerns for stretch when used for club racing and PNW cruising. Martin Calypso 1971 C&C 43 Seattle From:

As I progress through my cooling system I will have to clean out the heat exchanger on our 3HM35. I have a simple question, not covered in the repair manual I have... Can it be cleaned in place once the end caps are removed? And, if so, does this mean I don't have the drain the coolant? thx

First, I would try to suck/siphon enough coolant out and save it for reuse. Second, without the end bells on the core is removable. In fact in dire straights you can do so to make your fresh water cooled into a raw water cooled. That being said, I don't think you can remove the end bells without
