After a few years of equivocating and procrastinating, I have finally decided
to relocate. We are moving to Nanaimo BC, the other end of Canada, and intend
to make our home there for the foreseeable future. We plan to hit the road on
January 8, weather permitting, for a three week or so odyssey
Sorry to hear you're parting with Indigo, Rich. I hope you will get another
boat out there. It's the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world! Boat
prices are high, though, and you may well find that it's more economical to
ship Indigo out.
Congrats on the move!

Good luck Rich.
I don't want to be the little devil on your shoulder, but, shipping your LF38
to the west will be cheaper than the difference between the price of an other
boat in BC and the selling price of your LF. Add to that the investment on the
BC boat to get her to your liking.

Rich,
I know that the general saying is “move money, not boats”, but if you haven’t
done that yet, consider getting a quote for transporting Indigo from e.g.
Andrews Trucking (they are around Toronto (905 phone number)). Especially, as I
would imagine you are not in any hurry with getting the
+1.
Unless you just want a different boat or no boat anyway, I can easily see it
being cheaper in the long run just to move the boat. Someone from Annapolis did
the Northwest Passage in an old POS Albin Vega, so a Landfall should be a
luxury cruise ☺

Hi Rich,
Give me a shout when you arrive.
Boat prices have softened a lot in the past few
years. Unfortunately, not too far away, the
Seattle prices went up a wee bit, since their
economy seems to be improving (and we're heading for the ditch).

Congrats on making the decision and good Luck on the move.. Nanaimo is a
gem and Victoria is gorgeous. On top of that your're next door to
Vancouver, Whistler, the weather is mild, and there's awesome sailing to
boot. Definitely my favorite part of Canada and 1st choice if I ever move

Try Bird X spikes. They make them in stainless and plastic. I use the
plastic to save weight. They've lasted for 7 years and require no
maintenance. Buy on line (bird-x.com) or at Lowes or Home Depot.

Hi Tim, a little late in replying, but yes, Peregrine will be at Block Island

Last year one of the crew brought his cruising boat and Zodiac and we rated up

All,
There are 50 boats entered for the race this year, but only 4 C&Cs, my 35,

There's some good boats - Flyer, the Cal 40, is parked about 50 feet from
mine. he was second in the Newport to Bermuda race this year - beaten by
Aceta, which is the Bermuda 40, also a Chesapeake boat. Both boats are
mid-'60's oldies but goodies (Flyer is pretty original - Aceta is prob

FYI:
One lead-acid cell is about 2 volts. They are rated in Amp-Hours. 100 AH is
1 amp for 100 hours or 100 amps for one hour*. When you buy batteries, you
can get more than one cell per battery. While it is possible to get
individual 2 volt cells, most people have seen batteries with 6 cells, i.e

Ok, so Rick pays a portion of Indigo's transport to the PNW and gets a free
charter on a LF38. Win-win.

Rick,
Yanmar has recommended straight weight oils for a long time. You can still
buy 30 weight diesel oil, but it is getting hard to find. I use Rotella
15W-30 in my Yanmar and have been very happy with it. I remember a long
time ago some issue about running non-detergent oil in some engines
Yes you can buy SAE 30 oil and any grade for what it matters, Volvo marine
engines use SAE 30 synthetic oil. I used 25W-40 synthetic on my 2GM

Hi Richard,
Still here, but got pretty busy with my daughter’s horse competitions. She
rebelled against sailing and I think picked the only sport that is more
expensive. I’ll do Annapolis-Newport, but on a friend’s boat.
