Shower: Check the filter at the end of the drain hose. Could be hair or other stuff blocking the water flow. It doesn't take much to clog the hose. Toilet: If you haven't serviced the toilet in awhile, it might just need an overhaul. If it's an old Jabsco toilet, replace the pump with a twist and

Many of those bronze strainers have, or had an internal flapper to act as a check valve. Many of the simple 2 to 4gpm diaphragm pumps are self priming and will pump the suction lines more or less dry. Even if they don't, the pumps have internal check valves which prevent a lot of back flow. Thos
